Situation Summary

Entergy Corporation delivers affordable, reliable electric power to 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. As a regulated utility, Entergy serves as an impetus for economic development in order to promote business growth that creates more jobs and more investment in communities – resulting in improved economic health and a higher standard of living. The corporation’s Business Development Team provides comprehensive support for companies relocating to or expanding in the four-state Entergy region, often working closely with state and local economic development agencies.


Insight and Strategy Summary

The strategy was to promote the overall Entergy territory to show corporate re-locators the benefits of the entire region. Another goal was to emphasize how Entergy’s services made the decision-making easier in each phase of the process — from site selection, to energy planning and technical engineering, to financing — and to showcase Entergy’s commitment to confidentiality throughout the process. The company wanted updated communications materials that centralized and aligned messaging and branding so that the Business Development Team was the point of contact for companies considering a move to the region.


 

Solution/Work Summary

The initial project grew to include a new website, case studies, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, a brochure, and an infographic. The client also requested an educational infographic and PowerPoint presentation that explained the “why” of business development. All of the products had a consistent look and feel that complemented Entergy’s other corporate communications while setting the business development activities apart in the marketplace.

As a result, Site Selection magazine named Entergy one of the nation’s Top 10 utilities in economic development for its efforts to attract nearly $21 billion in projects—and their 9,200 jobs— in its four-state service territory. Entergy’s Business Development Team now is equipped with the clear, concise, and compelling communications materials it needs to reach each of these audiences during sales calls, events, site visits, and presentations to continue that success.
